If you’re one of the 83k people who follow Kayslee Collins on Instagram, you probably already know what a delight she is. Aside from the obviously gorgeous face, Collins is a ray of sunshine. She’s unquestionably cool, unapologetically confident, and she’s also a hugely talented singer who just finished her first record. Girl’s got a lot going for her.
“I love listening to and have been really influenced by Motown, Doo Wop and Rock ‘n Roll from the late 50’s, early 60’s,” explains Collins. “I’m also vibing French pop music from the 60’s, Nico, Julee Cruise, Petula Clark, Marianne Faithfull, Peggy March, The Shangri-las, The Supremes, Santo & Johnny… the list goes on and on. Film has also been a huge influence in making this album.”
When we asked Kayslee to stop by the office a few weeks back and test drive some out of the box (read: not “no makeup” makeup) looks, she was game for anything. Coral lips and steel-grey smokey eyes? Sure! Monochromatic pink lids and glossy lips? Why not! The palette was unabashedly girly, a perfect transition out of dark winter makeup that looked even better paired with the vintage clothes she brought along to style the shoot. Inspired by the unusually warm weather that day, we quizzed Collins on her ultimate guide to summer- like the best sunscreen for fair skin (glotheraputics), the perfect beach attire (vintage, naturally), and her ultimate beach playlist. Read on to learn how to do summer, the Kayslee Collins way.
MY PERFECT SUMMER OUTFIT…
A short, vintage dress from the 1960’s. My favorite local shop to find them is Squaresville in Los Filez.

ESSENTIAL SUMMER BEAUTY PRODUCT?
I like to go au natural [at the beach], I’m too lazy for makeup, but I love glotheraputics Moisturizing Tint SPF 30 Plus. It’s an easy two-in-one because it protects me from the sun and gives a nice fresh, glow, which is great since I don’t like to wear a ton of makeup.
FAVORITE SUMMER MEMORY?
Kauai is one of my favorite places, and I got to experience it with a close group of friends last summer. It was a much-needed vacation at the time, but in general, I love the opportunity to turn off my phone and slow down.
