Rethinking the (arbitrary) rule about dark eyes and lips with makeup artist Melissa Murdick, as modeled by Zoe Elyse. A look from our After Party Persona.

MUSE

Cara Delevingne at the 2013 Cannes premiere of The Great Gatsby.

WHERE TO WEAR

To see an indie band at The Troubador.

WHAT TO WEAR

A silver, see-through dress, either au natural a la Kate Moss, or layered on top of a black bra and briefs.

EYES

The eyes here are taken care of by a combination of MAC Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown (all over the lid and slightly above the crease), Ellis Fass Eye Lights in E301 Antique Silver from the inner corner of the eye to the middle of the lid, Sephora Collection Colorful Shadow & Liner Pencil in Black (from the middle of the lid to the edge of the eye) and lined on the upper and lower lid with Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Legend. No amount of mascara is too much here- go crazy with the Dior Blackout, you have our permission.

FACE

Using a BeautyBlender, apply a mixture Kevyn Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancer and a drop of your favorite moisturizer, starting at the center of your face and working outward. The final look can range from sheer to Photoshop-level flawless depending on the amount of moisturizer you incorporate, and once it’s on, this stuff will not budge. Apply MAC Cream Color Base in Vintage Rose using your fingers to the high points of your cheekbones to soften the complexion, then set with a translucent powder on the t-zone.

LIPS

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Cherry Skies is technically matte, although the finish is almost more of a velvet texture. The color is cool-toned and has a lot of depth, which complements the silver accents of the eye, but isn’t overly drying like most matte finishes.
