WHAT TO WEAR
There are certain looks that call for a flawless base, and for the times that isn’t (naturally) in the cards, or you just want to go the extra mile, there’s full-coverage foundation. Melissa used a combination of Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation and Cover Fx Custom Cover Drops, applied with a damp BeautyBlender, and then spot covered anything still peaking through with Cle De Peau Concealer.
Sculpting is courtesy of cult-classic Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Light to Medium. Starting at the top of the ear, lightly buff down along the cheekbones, leaving room for a combination of two NARS Blushes, Madly and Sexual Content, and Chantecaille Liquid Lumiere Illuminator in Sheen on the tops of the cheekbones.
Neatly groomed brows are key, but if your brows are naturally on the thicker side, some clear Anastasia Brow Gel to set them should do the trick. If you want a little more definition, preface with few swipes of Anastasia Brow Wiz in your designated shade- our model wore Medium Brown– wherever needed.
The smokey eye here should read as sexy, but not messy, so Melissa kept the palette in the bronze family with Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadows in Sateen and Topaz. Sateen goes all over the lid, while Topaz stays in the crease and along the lash line. Use Inglot AMC Eyeliner in 77 Black to create a tight line against the lashes, slightly winging out at the end to lift the eyes. Depending on how dramatic you want the finished look to be, false lashes are optional (Melissa favors Esquido if you go that route), and finish with a hearty coating of Urban Decay’s Total Perversion Reloaded Mascara.
Finish off with a nuded out lip, something that won’t draw attention from the rest of the face, but still pulls everything together nicely. NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft-Spoken, a nude-y brown was Melissa’s shade of choice (side bar: it’s also the shade the Olsen Twins wore to the ’15 Met Gala), but any good neutral will work.
